The new Summer 2013 PixieDust collection from Zoya arrived! I have been excited to try the PixieDust formula since Zoya first released it and now I am finally getting a chance!
When I first read about the PixieDust polishes I was intrigued. How can a polish be both matte and ultra glittery? It has a sugary texture? But how, I ask you! And most importantly, will it last as long as the other Zoya polishes?
I have answers!
There are 6 stunning colors in this collection:
Stevie- a violet sparkle.
Destiny- a red/orange coral metal sparkle.
Beatrix- a tangerine metal sparkle.
Liberty- a peacock blue sugary sparkle.
Miranda- a rose sparkle.
Solange- a gold metal sparkle, featuring Zoya's exclusive gold pigment.

This is a really nice range of colors. I love that they are bright, bold, saturated and summery. They are also super glittery! I was really skeptical about how glittery they would be since they are supposed to be a matte sugary texture, but holy cow are they glittery. It's actually hard to get the sparkle from the glitter to show up in the pictures the way it does in person. The best way I can describe the texture these have is like the colored sugar crystals on a sugar cookie, then throw in some glitter.
Another question I had was if they would snag on hair/clothing or if they would be scratchy. I have two small kids, so this was important to me. I don't want to have to worry about my nails catching on mine or my daughter's hair, or scratching either of my kids (or myself for that matter!). The formula is not scratchy at all. It is definitely textured, but the texture is smooth enough that it doesn't hurt when its brushed against skin. It also hasn't snagged my waist length hair once. I can run my fingers through my hair without having to worry about my nails catching.
My other big concern was how long the polish would last. Most matte polishes seem to chip off really quickly, which is pretty frustrating when you have taken the time to get your polish perfect. On that note, I was pleasantly surprised by these polishes! I got 4-5 days out of them before any chips appeared, which says a LOT because I am rough on my hands. What mom isn't?
Each polish in this collection is full coverage and completely opaque in 2-3 coats. I found Liberty and Solange to be the most pigmented and Destiny to be a tad more sheer (though still completely opaque in 3 coats). Application* was very easy and the formula was fluid and smooth without being either too thick or runny.
*Zoya's application tips: Do not use with a base coat or top coat for best results. Apply 1-3 thin coats for full coverage. Allow to dry completely between each coat for full effect. It may take up to 10 minutes for the polish to dry down completely matte.
Zoya mentions that it make take a little longer than normal polish for the PixieDust polishes to dry down, but I honestly thought they took about the same amount of time as my other Zoyas take. In other words, I really didn't have any trouble with them.
My final thoughts on this collection are that I am hooked on the PixieDust formula now! I love that the sparkle and texture add such a fun twist to my nails and that it is still long lasting and 5 free. Thumbs up to Zoya!
What are your thoughts on the new Summer 2013 PixieDust Collection?
PixieDust Summer 2013 Collection
Liberty
Destiny
In these pictures Destiny looks a little glossy, but it isn't at all. It's just very glittery/sparkly and it's translating as shine in the photos. It has the same sugary texture as the other 5.
Solange
Miranda
Stevie
Beatrix
These polishes can be purchased on Zoya.com individually for $9 a bottle or as a set of all 6 for $54.

Thank you! They really are beautiful. I would highly suggest these as an intro to Zoya polishes. They dry quickly and last a long time. I have been wearing Miranda for a week now with no chips.
