Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss Swatches and Mini Review

Today I have some of the Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Glosses for you! I know that they have revamped the formula and packaging on these, but I had never tried the old ones, so I really can't compare.

The new package is a clear round plastic tube with a black cap and a gold band with the name Revlon printed on it. The wand has a classic doe foot applicator. I really like the round tube. I think it looks nice and they feel weighty in my hand, making them feel more high end.

I like that they come sticker sealed, with a break away sticker that leaves the name of the shade on the tube.

There is also a nice way to tell if they have been tampered with! When you open the tube you can see a clear chamber at the top of the tube. As the wand is pulled out of the tube the chamber will fill with gloss letting you know that the wand has been pulled out. So when you are looking to buy one of these you will be able to see if they have actually been tampered with if the sticker happens to be missing/broken. You can carefully open the tube, just enough to see the chamber (don't pull the wand all the way out!). If the chamber is still clear/empty then you know that the wand has never been pulled out. If the chamber is full of gloss, then you know it has already been opened and possible tampered with.

The six colors I have are:

·Sugar Violet - a sheer pink toned purple with noticeable pink and blue glitter in it.

·Pink Pop - a bright medium pink.

· Kiss Me Coral - a bright orange/coral with noticeable silver glitter.

·Pango Peach - a light pinky peach with noticeable gold shimmer.

·Snow Pink - a pale pink with golden shimmer.

·Berry Allure - a sheer medium berry.

Most of these are pretty sheer, adding a nice wash off color, but allowing your natural lip color to show through. The brighter/bolder colors, like Pink Pop and Berry Allure, are naturally more pigmented than the lighter colors like Pango Peach and Snow Pink.

The formula of these is nice. They smell slightly of vanilla and are nice and creamy with just a tiny bit of tack, but not what I would call sticky. They have a decent amount of wear time, right around 3 hours, without eating or drinking.

One negative about the glittery/shimmery colors is that I noticed that as the gloss wears off your are left with flecks of glitter all over your lips. So if you are not going to be touching up throughout the day that would be something to keep in mind. You may want to bring a gloss with you to top of once it stays to wear away so that you aren't left with random glitter all over your lips.

Overall I really like these. I think I could even say they have become my favorite drug store gloss. I can't wait to pick up Super Natural and Fatal Apple next!

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters

Today I have swatched 8 of the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters for you. I know, I know. I am very late to the game on these. I am not even exactly sure why I never jumped on the lip butter bandwagon. I think it's because I tried Cupcake when they first came out and thought it would be very sheer (what I had wanted at the time) but it ended up being more pigmented than I had wanted and it was a terrible color for me. So I just assumed that I wouldn't like the rest of them either. Stupid of me, yes?

Shades I swatched:

·Peach Parfait: peachy pink with strong gold glitter/shimmer flecks.

·Strawberry Shortcake: cool toned light pink with very subtle silver shimmer.

·Juicy Papaya: light orangy coral cream.

·Tutti Frutti: bright orangy coral cream.

·Berry Smoothie: medium warm toned pink with subtle pink shimmer.

·Sorbet: bright cool toned pink with very subtle shimmer (hard to tell the color of the shimmer, looks pink but flashing blue as well.).

·Wild Watermelon: a reddish orange with jelly like look.

·Candy Apple: an orange based red cream.

These have a smooth, buttery (duh) texture and the pigmentation ranges from sheer to opaque, depending on how much you apply. Some of the colors like Tutti Frutti can be built up to full opacity. While others, such as Wild Watermelon, have a jelly like look to them, so even when they are built up they still have a translucency.

They feel very moisturizing on my lips and do seem to make my lips feel softer once they have faded or are removed. Even though a few of them have noticeable glitter/shimmer in them I could only feel it on my lips when I used Peach Parfait, and even though I could feel the glitter it was not rough/gritty enough to bother me. The rest of the shimmer/glitter ones felt smooth and slick.

I got varying wear times on these. Some of the lighter shades like Strawberry Shortcake and Peach Parfait lasted around 3 hours before I couldn't detect any color anymore. While the more pigmented shades like Candy Apple and Wild Watermelon lasted a little longer and also left color on my lips even after the balminess had faded off.

I can't really say that any one shade is my favorite because they are all wonderful for the shade that they are. I liked each one and can see myself using every shade I have depending on the look I want. The only shade I feel that Revlon is lacking is a glitter/shimmer free natural pink. They have Pink Truffle, which I own (will swatch later), but it's a little dark and brown toned to be a perfect natural color for most people. If they could make one that was a cream finish, and between the colors of Berry Smoothie and Pink Truffle, I think it would be perfect. A girl can dream right?

I purchased these at Walgreens for $8.99 each and took advantage of their buy one get one 50% off sale.

Each picture below is with two swipes. Keep in mind that since the majority of these are sheer that you will be able to see some of your natural lip color through them. I have rosy colored lips, so each color takes on a slightly more pink/rosy tone when it's on my lips  vs. on my arm.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review and Swatches

Today I have a short review of the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain pencils for you! I have seen a lot of chubby lip pencils in the stores lately but these have to be, hands down, my favorite. They are moisturizing, have buildable color and leave a stain on the lips after the balm has worn off.

These are very similar to the Tarte stain pencils, but they are a lot cheaper. They are a twist up balm pencil in a plastic tube. The outside of the tube matches the color of the balm on the inside. I think I found these at Walmart for around $7 each, and if you hit up Walgreen's when they have the buy one get one 50% off deals on Revlon cosmetics then you can get them for even cheaper!

I found that these feel very balmy (duh) and moisturizing on my lips. They have a light minty smell when you first apply them, but it quickly fades. The color can be applied sheer with one swipe or it can be built up to a much bolder color if you apply more. They lasted (without eating/drinking) for about 4 hours before I wanted to reapply. The amazing thing about these pencils is that they are a stain. So even after the balm has worn off you are left with a really pretty color on your lips, so you really don't have to reapply to get color. Depending on the shade I found that the staining effect lasted a long time. For shades like Romantic and Crush I still had color on my lips at the end of the day. Some of the lighter shades seemed to disappear on my lips after about 8 hours, but I have pretty pigmented lips already, so that may have something to do with that. I would suggest exfoliating your lips before applying these because not only will some of the lighter colors highlight dryness on your lips, but the stain tends to show up more on the dry patches and will cause your lips to look splotchy. Exfoliating is quick and easy and will take care of this problem, and I didn't find it to be something that would stop me from purchasing and using these.

The range of colors is pretty good. I only have these five but you can see that they range all the way from a pale peachy nude, to a deep berry and a bright red.

Charm: pale peachy nude
Honey: nude pink mauve (I think this color is pretty universally flattering)
Cherish: Blue based medium pink
Crush: Deep berry pink
Romantic: Bright red with hints of orange

Overall, I LOVE these and I hope that Revlon keeps these around. I would even love to see some more colors. Maybe a really pretty coral pink and a rose color would be nice.
