Zoya's Fall 2013 PixieDust Collection (SWATCH HEAVY)

Today I have the new Fall 2013 PixieDusts for you!

This collection consists of 6 new matte, sparkling, metallic polishes in Zoya's exclusive PixieDust formula.

The colors in this collection are:

1. Tomoko- champagne silver.
2. Carter- Royal purple.
3. Sunshine- "Van Gogh" navy blue.
4. Dhara- fiery orange copper.
5. Arabella- fuchsia pink.
6. Chita- forest green.

Each of these polishes are listed as a 4 on the opacity scale (1=sheer, 5=completely opaque). I found that the majority of them were very pigmented and completely opaque in 2-3 thin coats. Some of them were so pigmented that they appeared opaque in 1 coat. Tomoko and Carter were more sheer than the others. Carter was very sheer with one coat, but thankfully once the second coat went on it built up pigmentation quickly and was completely opaque in 3 coats. Tomoko was the most sheer of the group and still seemed to be slightly see through even after 3 coats. I think that a fourth thin coat would have taken Tomoko to complete opacity.

For more information on the best way to apply the PixieDust polishes please see this post (HERE).

Each of the PixieDust polishes can be purchased at www.zoya.com, or by clicking the name of each polish listed above, for $9 each, or as a collection of 6 for $54.

July 2013 Birchbox

It's Birchbox time again! I have been lacking with my Birchbox posts lately. It's honestly because I just haven't been excited about the boxes I had been getting so I didn't have any motivation to post about them. Each month would roll around and I would get excited for my box and then once it arrived I would feel so overwhelmed that I would just shove it aside and move on to something else.

I think the real problem with BB the last few months is that they have had SO MANY box variations going out each month. When I first started BB their were like 20 variations at the most. July had 53 box variations. This leads to a lot of box envy and "why didn't I get that box? It matches my profile much better."

I figured I would go ahead and post this months box because 1. it's pretty decent, and 2. I should be posting my boxes, both good AND bad.

Also, Birchbox just recently went through a redesign and I thought I would show you guys. I like it much better than the pink they had before.

The box.
The theme this month was "Power Play"

DDF Acne Control Treatment
No. 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect
Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream (OMG look how cute this is!)
Little tiny box.
The eye cream. Some girls reported that their jars seemed less than half full. Other girls had jars that were so full it was almost spilling out, like mine. I am not sure how or why this happened since they should all have contained the same amount. I am not complaining though, since mine was one of the overfilled jars.
The Balm Instain blush in Swiss Dot (a peachy coral)

I also received some BB bobby pins, which ended up being my favorite thing in the entire box, which is saying a LOT because I am a huge Benefit, The Balm and No. 4 fan. The bobby pins are in the "Contents" picture above. They are a wider, flatter style pin and they hold my hair in place like nobody's business, and they are only $5 for 6 pins on Birchbox.com!

I haven't had a chance to try out the Benefit eye cream, the DDF product or the No. 4 product yet (will update as I try them), but I have worn the Instain blush several times and WOW is it amazing. It really is a staining blush and it lasts allllllllllll day. I may have to purchase a full size. Though this blush is so pigmented, and you need so little of it, that this tiny sample will last forever.

So even though I have my skin listed as dry and my skin concern as anti-aging and not acne, they still sent me an acne cream. Which, in the long run is not a big deal. I will save it for the rare breakout. The rest of the box was pretty good. I managed to receive one of the coveted items this month (the Instain blush) along with some things I need (eye cream).

Overall, not bad.
Birchbox, I just can't quit you.
